Kawangware, a slum in the western part of Nairobi that is estimated to be made up of 65% children and youth. Infrastructure is in total disarray and the lack of social amenities causes the children and youth to spend their time in total idleness exposing them to extreme behaviors.

A gentleman by the name of Agasto Githaiga has dedicated all his adult years to tirelessly working to improve the living conditions and the personal well-being of the children, youth, and adults in his community. To describe Agasto as resilient and determined is a major understatement. Along with his partner, Morris Auka, who brings years of experience working with street children and youths at risk, and Agasto founded the Kawangware Street Children and Youth Project (KSCYP) in 2002. Their main objective was, and still is, to create opportunities for the lives street children and youth who are at risk in Kawangware. Love Fatigues LLC and NextAid are supporting the Kawangware Street Children and Youth Project by raising funds to build an eco-friendly, multipurpose facility that will be used for the program?s micro-business and host activities such as community trainings, youth feeding programs and child care or recreation.

Love Fatigues LLC supports The Lord’s Pantry which is a non-profit organization serving hot nutritious meals to HIV/People With AIDS, their caregivers and children in Westchester County, New York. The Lord’s Pantry was founded by Joan McGovern, Frances Gray and Ann Weiss, mothers who had each lost a child to this dreaded disease. They recognized how many HIV/PWA’s there were in Westchester County with no support system, and founded The Lord’s Pantry to fill this need in the Westchester Community. The Lord’s Pantry delivers hot meals to AIDS patients who are too weak from their illness to cook their own meals. Not only do the many volunteers deliver meals, but also more importantly, deliver love and support.

After Joan’s son Tommy died, Joan and Fran began cooking meals in their kitchens, buying the supplies and relying on donations from local restaurants and companies. Today, the Pantry meals are cooked by a hired chef in the kitchen facilities donated by St. Bernard’s Church in White Plains, New York, serving over 2500 meals weekly in the Westchester area. The Pantry has expanded to include meals for caregivers and children of their clients. Volunteers from all over the county donate their time to deliver.
The Lord’s Pantry has been featured in both The New York Times and The Reporter Dispatch. For more information, please contact The Lord’s Pantry at the email provided below. Volunteers are always welcome, needed and sincerely appreciated. If you, or someone you know, could benefit from having their meals delivered daily, along with TLC, please contact The Lord’s Pantry. There is NO CHARGE for this service. The Pantry is funded by Ryan White, small grants and donations.

Tax-deductible donations may be made out to: The Lord’s Pantry
